Travis Mitchell Newman is a musician with a diverse background in the marching arts, percussion ensemble, contemporary music, orchestra, wind ensemble, and even solo playing. He studied with Nancy Zeltsman and Doug Perkins at the Boston Conservatory, earning a Masters in 2017. Travis received his Bachelors in Music Education from Missouri State University. Most recently, he studied percussion with Dr. Dan Moore, and composition with Dr. Zack Stanton, all while working as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Iowa (go hawks!). He has performed across the U.S., in Japan, and on the main stage at PASIC, and still performs with his lovely wife, Gabriella, as a part of their percussion duo: Resound.
Specifically in the marching arts, Travis has worked as a performer, educator, and designer. He performed with The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, including the 2011 Fred Sanford award winning percussion section, as well as WGI PIW Finalist Gateway Percussion. After that, he went on to teach and design with Gateway, in addition to teaching notable scholastic WGI and BOA groups such as Tulsa Union, Kickapoo, Owasso, Rockwood Summit, Grain Valley, and more.
